The Raritan Inn is proud to associate with John Bovill. John is a Jersey guy whose deep experience and knowledge in the hospitality industry has taken him from Texas and Arkansas to NASA at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. He brings a spectrum of skills to the Raritan Inn, thanks to his 15-plus years in management at Christian camps and conference centers. John served as executive director of the renowned Shepherd of the Ozarks Conference and Retreat Center in Arkansas, which provides accommodations for more than 400 guests. Although John’s know-how in marketing, development, food service and staff management are essential to the daily operations of the inn, his background in emergency preparedness was put to the test during his first few days at the Raritan Inn, when Hurricane Irene unexpectedly checked in.
John mostly prides himself on his talent to ensure the comfort of his guests, whether it means giving leisurely private tours of the inn’s scenic grounds, offering ideas and agendas for day-tripping, or whipping up a delicious three-course breakfast.
The son of a pastor and special education teacher, John is a loving dad to a son and three daughters and counts carpentry and horsemanship among his many interests. Jilayne, his wife of 27 years, is the Postmaster Relief at the Schooley’s Mountain Post Office in the General Store. Together they are active members of Valley View Chapel in Long Valley and the Organ Donor Network.
