Education at the Inn

In cooperation with the National Association of Home Builders, the Raritan Inn will be hosting a series of professional development classes ranging from Green Building to Negotiating Skills.  This commitment to professionalism can enhance the business skills of the attendees and can lead to a number of professional certifications.

Registration is through the Community Builders Association of NJ at 973-887-2888 x 302 or online at http://www.cbanj.org.  Classes will run from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., unless otherwise noted.  Preregistration is required. Membership in CBA is not required; non-member fees are available.

The Green Divas visit the Inn

The Green Divas filmed their pilot TV show at the Inn, highlighting our cutting-edge green technologies.
and exploring ways homeowners could translate some of our energy-saving ideas to their homes. 
Owner, Bill Asdal, winner of the 2009 National Green Project of the Year Award from NAHB, was interviewed.
The Divas host a light-hearted sustainable-living radio show on Thursday nights from 7-8 p.m. on homegrownradionj.com.

 Black Bear Seminar

Know The Bear Facts Program - Living With Black Bears in New Jersey 
 Monday, April 27, 7:30 pm 
Presented by the NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife. 
The seminar will give an overview of the natural history and biology of bears in the Garden State.  Practical information and tips for coexisting with bears will be addressed.  Refreshments will be served.

The Inn is part of the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association's 2008 Green Buildings Open House Tour, Saturday, October 4th from 10-4.
This tour offers first-hand opportunities to how clean energy and green building practices can be put to work. 
The Tour is taking place throughout New England states, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York.



 

The Inn welcomes the Central Jersey chapter of Trout Unlimited for their fall picnic on Saturday, October 4th. 
Their day will include a pig roast, bucket raffles and a silent auction of premier fishing gear, and the opportunity to fish one of New Jersey's best private stocked waters on the South Branch.

"Managing Business in a Downturned Market" - Seminar

The Central Jersey chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry will be hosting their monthly meeting at the Raritan Inn, featuring a seminar by Bill Asdal on "Managing Business in a Downturned Market". Also included will be a tour of the Inn, with a focus on the "green" technologies.

Return of Mazy, our resident mallard duck!

We have sighted Mazy and her mate preparing their well-hidden nest in the plantings alongside our patio.  This is her 5th year in a row that she has chosen our Inn for her nesting spot.  Welcome back Mazy!

TV Show Filmed at The Raritan Inn

The Raritan Inn was chosen to be the venue for the award-winning PBS television series Real Moms, Real Stories, Real Savvy.  Ten segments were filmed on location over a week in early March. 
Experts flown in from around the country were interviewed for the round-table portion of the show.
The production staff, host, writers and talent were guests at the Inn.  The senior producer was quoted as saying "Hands down, this is the best facility we've ever encountered.  Margy DeWitt is a jewel of an Innkeeper."

  • Seminar:  Hatches of the South Branch of the Raritan
    Coming Winter 2008.
    Presented by Shannon's Fly & Tackle, Califon, NJ.
    Learn how to match the hatch.  In these lectures we focus on all relevant stages of insect development, fish behavior, and proven techniques to catch more trout. After a short break and refreshments, one of our featured local fly tiers will demonstrate the techniques to tie several successful local patterns. 
    Four sessions each include box of flies, hard copy of presentation and catered refreshments as well return trip to fish over the hatches on our private water. Each stage of every insect, its behavior, and effective fishing tactics are covered in detail.

    $100.00 per session, $375.00 for all four sessions and includes four return fishing sessions.

    Bridget's paintings are about the beauty in nature.  Her work is influenced by the "Old Masters", Italian & Spanish still-life painters and Dutch flower painters.
    Bridget paints and teaches art in Corning, New York.  She grew up in Long Valley, NJ.
