Solar panels capture the sun's energy on the cottage roof. A heat exchanger in the basement transfers the heated fluids' energy to domestic hot water. This heated water is then stored in an insulated tank. We have an on-demand heating in line should the solar hot water not be sufficient.  
The geothermal heat pump at the Inn provides domestic hot water though we combined this with another inline on-demand water heater.
